Sean Murphy writes software to support biological research. His experience spans a range of research domains and engineering techniques, and includes image processing, enterprise workflow management, high performance computing, bioinformatics, computational neuroscience, human interface design, and rigid-body dynamics. At Janelia, he is returning to neuroscience after an extended hiatus during the genomics era, first at Celera Genomics followed by the J. Craig Venter Institute, where he most recently held a research faculty position. Sean is an ongoing visitor in the Interdisciplinary Studies program at the Institute for Advanced Studies and a former Fellow of the UPenn Institute for Research in Cognitive Science. His Ph.D. is in Neuroscience from Yale University, and his undergraduate degrees are in Biology and Electrical Engineering from M.I.T.
